Guardian Home Inspections & Repairs, Inc.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, James grew up in Florida’s Vero Beach, but Tallahassee is truly home. He enjoys outdoor activities and all kinds of sports, especially cheering on FSU football with his two precious daughters.
Mr. Fix It Repairs & Restorations was the first entrepreneurship endeavor James started, but the services quickly exceeded the scope of the name. Thus, “Guardian Home Inspections & Repairs, Inc.” was born, and more aptly covers the panoply of expert areas James and his team have provided local residences and businesses for over 13 years. He says “The best part of my job is being able to help families put their lives back together after a loss to their home from fire, flood, mold, etc.,” James said. “It’s extremely rewarding to be able to offer something concrete to help heal households after a traumatic event.”
James is an expert in and has earned six industry licenses: Contractor,> Home Inspector, Mold Inspector, Mold Remediator, Radon Mitigation Specialist and a Licensed Radon Company. He also specializes in Restoration. He is one of a handful of professionals in Florida who hold this many designations in his industry. He has been honored with two “Tally Awards” for Best Home Inspection and is in the running for Best Home Inspection and Best Contractor for 2015.
As a child, James Pace spent his afternoons in his Dad’s wood shop, fascinated by the sounds and smells of tools and wood. Responsible for keeping the workshop clean and organized at age five, he moved to prepping paint and setting up sawhorse projects by age seven. His natural fascination was the beginning of honing his skills in cabinetry, antique restoration and even replicating pieces as well.
James continuing to build a sound base of experience, and by the time he could vote, he worked on complex projects involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, framed houses, plastering, trim work, running heavy equipment, sandblasting, electrostatic painting, welding and more. Clearly, this was going to become a career path. However, after serving in the United States Navy after high school, James earned a master’s degree in Special Education at Florida State University, enjoying the challenge of helping children with physical, mental or emotional considerations learn and develop.
James says every day includes a balancing act, growing his business through frequent client referrals and a large professional network, while still staying small enough to have personal contact with every client. He is proud to have built his brand through radio, television and print ads, and has found himself having to explain at the yearly home show that he is not a franchise as people may assume due to the quality of his advertising pieces, but a home grown business who can be reached 24/7 on his cell phone whenever a client is in need.
James’ bucket list includes a tour of Italy, fishing/diving off Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and obtaining a pilot’s license. Considering his track record so far, expect a postcard from Tuscany one of these years.
